Do you play a musical instrument and now want to learn how to play in a band?
Learning how to play an instrument is one thing. Learning how to play in a band is entirely another. And the garage is not the place to do it. . . Jam School is!
Jam Crib's Jam School is our version of a "school of rock". Have fun and learn from professional musicians who will teach you how to use the skills you already have to play in a musical group. Jam School classes are comprised of students who play guitar, bass, drums, and other instruments. Classes are aligned according to age and playing experience. Reading music is not required.
As Fort Wayne's first and foremost school of rock, weekly classes are offered in the professional facilities of Jam Crib Music Rehearsal Center. This type of education is unique and is not provided in regular schools or traditional music lessons.
Student musicians receive expert training and guidance from experienced professionals on the many aspects of playing with others in a musical group. The focus is on studying a variety of popular styles of music to have a real understanding of the many elements that go into making great songs. As they work in a group setting they learn the subtleties of arranging and playing different instrumental parts together, such as electric guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards. They learn to work cooperatively with their peers and develop excellent listening skills. They are able to experience how creativity takes shape and put forth the effort required to produce exceptional music. Not to mention, they also have lots of fun!
Jam School is not a replacement for individual private lessons for playing musical instruments, but is intended to complement students' musical education with a means of using their skills in a group activity. The professional studios in which classes are held are already equipped with amplifiers and drum sets. Students need only bring their own guitars, drum sticks, or other instruments. The premises are extremely safe and family friendly.
Classes each meet once a week for one hour and are available on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings and Saturday or Sunday afternoons, Groups for available for students ages 8 to 11, 12 to 14,15 to 17, and adults 18 and over.
We are also able to teach complete garage bands together as a group to help them improve. Our goal is to make this opportunity available and affordable for as many students as possible, so the cost is only $10 per student for a hour-long class.
Our Jam School class groups have progressed to the level where they have been invited and performed on the local concert scene. This program offers opportunities for aspiring musicians to advance their musical ambitions.
